Após semanas de embate, negociações e troca de acusações, a Câmara dos Deputados aprovou ontem o texto da reforma do Código Florestal com alterações que significaram uma derrota para o governo.
Uma emenda aprovada por 273 votos a 182 rachou a base do governo levando os principais partidos governistas, PT e PMDB, para lados opostos. O texto da emenda consolida a manutenção de atividades agrícolas nas APPs (áreas de preservação permanente), autoriza os Estados a participarem da regularização ambiental e deixa clara a anistia para os desmates ocorridas até junho de 2008.
Segundo os ex-ministros, a votação do texto do deputado Aldo Rebelo (PCdoB-SP) nesta semana é prematura.
"Não vemos, portanto, na proposta de mudanças do Código Florestal aprovada pela Comissão Especial da Câmara dos Deputados em junho de 2010, nem nas versões posteriormente circuladas, coerência com nosso processo histórico, marcado por avanços na busca da consolidação do desenvolvimento sustentável. Ao contrário, se aprovada qualquer uma dessas versões, o país agirá na contramão de nossa história e em detrimento de nosso capital natural", dizem os ex-ministros na carta.

According to former Ministers, the vote on the text by Mr Aldo Rebelo (PCdoB) this week is premature.
"We don't see, therefore, the proposed changes to the forest code approved by the Special Commission of the Chamber of deputies in June 2010, or later versions also circulated, consistent with our historical process, marked by advances in search of the consolidation of sustainable development. On the contrary, if passed, any one of these versions, the country will act against the grain of our history and to the detriment of our natural capital ", say the former Ministers in the Charter.
