Mercado do café (Coffee Market)

The Brazilian coffee crop for 2011 should be favorable producer prices, according to the perspective presented yesterday (06), by the Secretary of production and Agroenergy of the Ministry of agriculture, Manoel Bertone. During the announcement of the first survey of harvest to 2011, he was optimistic the sector performance and stated that there is high probability that prices remain positive at least two more years. "I am confident that the year 2011 is above average quality, which will allow this advance in international blends and goes to show that the natural coffee produced in Brazil is the world's most appreciated," he said.
Although 2011 below cycle for coffee harvest national-the so-called biyearly negative-Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento (Conab), responsible for study, estimated production of up to 44 million sacks. The forecast is higher than the (last year of low production) in five million bags.
"The coffee can't produce equally in two consecutive years. This year, there is a preponderance of plantations in low cycle, but even the biyearly, we are in the eighth straight year of increase of average productivity and production, "said the Secretary. According to the survey Conab climate was favorable to uniformity of blossoms in 2010, which improves the quality of the coffee harvest.
Bertone said that Brazil is today the largest producer and exporter of coffee in the world, the second largest domestic market and the country's fastest-growing international in participation in blends. "The Brazilian coffee is showing the best performance among all coffee harvest of the world and has everything to consolidate and assume a role that had 30, 40 years," he opined.
The biyearly is characterized by a greater or lesser production of coffee, in alternating years. This is because the coffee plantation needs about a year to produce the greatest amount of fruit.
